Parts & Ammo Scarcity, When Will it End?
Firearm parts and ammunition are tough to find these days. Once booming gun sales have slumped, due to lack of ammo to go with them. The empty shelves are sad, when will they be full again? Manufacturers have promised relief, but when? Is this our “new normal”?
Sadly, we don’t have solid answers to any of those questions. I do know the ammo shortage has been building for years now. It seems that since Obama stated everyone should prepare for anything, including a “Zombie Apocalypse”, ammo sales have been sky high. Shortages are probably more attributable to the longest running war in our history in the Mideast, and higher demands by law enforcement, prisons, etc. for practice rounds.
If we look online, we can find ammo, but the prices are absurd. A dollar a round is the low end, with popular calibers at $2 per round and up. Those who are tempted to sell of some of their ammo stash online face near impossible shipping regulations and prices. Reloading is a tempting answer, but those supplies sold out before the ammo did. Reloading is a skill, not something for a novice. We do see guns that have been horribly damaged by reloads, not to mention feed issues due to deformed cartridge bases.
In the current environment, we struggle to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Meanwhile, warmth has returned to the prairie, new game is being born and growing fat. Americans will persevere. Stay healthy and safe.
