About Dean, IVGunsmith

Deans passion for guns of all shapes and sizes began when he was very young. He used to hunt before and after school during the season. Keeping his guns in good working order, so he could be the very best shot, was important.

When Dean completed small arms school in the Navy, he got to work on military guns, including really big guns on the ship. When returned from the Navy, he enlisted in the Army National Guard Reserves and got to “play” with ordinance and blow things up, along with armorer duties.

Dean became the to “go to” guy in his area for gun repair. He got his Federal Firearms License in 1986 and has work on guns and stocks ever since. Over the years, Dean has created everything from single shot .22’s, to “match” pistols, custom rifles and sporting guns for customers. He also built and customized duty firearms and sniper rifles for law enforcement use.

When we arrived in MN, we found a much less regulated environment than CA. There is a huge demand for high quality, all around, gunsmithing. Dean’s done everything from basic fitting of butt pads on long guns, modifying scope mounts, drilling and tapping new guns for scopes, to fitting the “hand” in a very old, very valuable Colt Revolver.

Overall, the gun folks here are very nice and very passionate about their guns, keeping Dean very busy.
